1. Check your real collection state
Before replying, make sure the card is not part of a set you still want to keep. A digital tracker helps because owned cards, missing cards, wishlists, and duplicates are visible in one workflow.
- Verify whether the card is owned once or duplicated.
- Check if it completes a member, era, or album goal before offering it.
- Review your wishlist so you do not trade for a card you already own.
2. Confirm exact card details
Many photocards look similar across albums, POBs, lucky draws, and event sets. Ask for enough context to avoid mixing up versions.
- Group, member, album, era, and version.
- Store or event name for POBs, lucky draws, and special cards.
- Front and back photos in natural light when condition matters.
3. Agree on trade expectations
A trade is smoother when both collectors agree on condition, packing, shipping method, timing, and proof before anything is mailed.
- Mention scratches, dents, print lines, corner wear, or manufacturing marks clearly.
- Confirm sleeve, top loader or cardboard protection, waterproofing, and address proof.
- Share mailing proof or tracking depending on the value and local habits.
4. Update your tracker after the trade
Once the trade is complete, update both sides of your collection: remove the outgoing duplicate and mark the incoming card as owned. This prevents future duplicate purchases and stale wishlists.
- Move received cards from wishlist or missing to owned.
- Remove traded cards from duplicates or trade inventory.
- Keep high-priority wishlists current before the next trade post.
